Third Godzilla Animated Movie Poster & Title Revealed

Yesterday, Godzilla: City On The Edge Of Battle (part 2 of the animated movie, Godzilla: Planet Of The Monsters) was released in Japanese theaters. While there are no reviews for the movie yet, something else was brought to attention. At the premier, the poster for part 3 of the animated trilogy was revealed with an official title, a release date, and perhaps a tease for another monster.

Godzilla: The Planet Eater is the official title for the third movie. It is set for a November 2018 release as opposed to a 2019 release date that was originally scheduled for. On top of that, there is a possible tease for another monster to appear in Godzilla: Planet Eater and the only monster that would make sense here is King Ghidorah. As you can see in the background of the poster, you have three snake like necks or tails weaving over each other like they're slithering and it has that iconic gold color that King Ghidorah is known for. He is also sometimes known for having a mane, but he is mostly covered in scales through out the body, and spiky clubs at the end of the tails. As it appears for this one, he may have something relevant to fur.

Smaller versions of the poster were being passed out at the premier. The front of the poster shows the title and release date and on the back of the poster there are more details that are revealed. The tagline was translated saying, "BOW DOWN TO THE GOLDEN END." So the tagline basically confirms, once again, that King Ghidorah is making an appearance.

I will be honest, I am getting tired of seeing Mothra, MechaGodzilla, and King Ghidorah making frequent appearances in Godzilla films. They have a whole roster of monsters that are being unused that I'm sure fans would really like to see. In the books that get released alongside these movies there are monsters that have been going unused for a very long time that don't get any attention in the movies other than a three second cameo. I would love to see other monsters have bigger roles in these movies other than the top three popular ones. Next year, Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, the sequel to the 2014 remake, will be released and guess which monsters are in those movies? King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan. I don't mind Rodan at all since he is one monster that you see less frequent. If there was a top 5 most frequent monsters list, Rodan would make the number 5 spot. Whenever I see videos of what people would like to see in a Godzilla movie, I always hear Anguirus, Varan, Baragon, Kamakuras, Kumonga, etc., but never King Ghidorah or Mothra. Even when Godzilla: Planet Of The Monsters was released people were speculating that Space Godzilla was going to appear and that would have been amazing to see as well. To end my rambling, my point is that there needs to be more variety in these Godzilla movies and there is not enough of it.

What are your thoughts on the poster? Are you excited for King Ghidorah to make an appearance in this third installment or were you hoping for something else?
