James Bond vs Godzilla vs Kong: The Battle For November

2020 has certainly not been a very kind year for movies. Back in November 2019, Godzilla vs Kong was pushed back to November 20, 2020 because of reshoots. Now, with the growing pandemic of the coronavirus many movie theaters overseas like China, Japan, South Korea, and Italy are temporarily shut down. The result from this will have some movies flop, but it has also resulted in other movies being pushed back and one of those is the new James Bond film, No Time To Die. Originally releasing April 14th, No Time To Die is reported to push back to November 25th, five days after the theatrical release of Godzilla vs. Kong. So now many are wondering how Godzilla vs Kong will fair against No Time To Die on Thanksgiving weekend.

The easy answer is this. James Bond will no doubt come out on top over Thanksgiving. James Bond has more name recognition than Godzilla and Kong combined. The last James Bond movie, Spectre, had a budget of $245 million and made $880.6 million while Godzilla: King Of The Monsters made $386.6 million. That is a huge difference between the last two movies.

However, since we are three months into 2020 there are still some unknowns on what could happen. We may see a trend of more movies being pushed back to late 2020/early 2021. I can see more movies originally being released in the Spring and Summer pushed back to November to get the best possible box office performance internationally. Especially since movies are relying more on the international box office more than the domestic box office. As long as the coronavirus is still around we are most likely going to see more studios pulling their movies out of their original Spring/Summer releases and pushing them back to Fall and Winter. So the biggest competition this year might not take place in the Spring and Summer like usual.

What do you guys speculate will happen? Do you predict more movies being delayed to the Fall due to the coronavirus or do you think the pandemic will be resolved before then? Do you think Godzilla vs Kong will come out on top of James Bond in November? Leave a comment on your thoughts on the pandemic and No Time To Die moving to November in the comments section.
