More Merchandising From Jakks Pacific And Rubie's Costume Company

As we draw closer and closer to the release of Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, we begin to see merchandising being revealed. Back at San Diego Comic Con 2018 NECA confirmed that they were making Godzilla figures for the movie. Two weeks ago at Tokyo Comic Con, we got the reveal for Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah from the Tamashii Nations SH MonsterArts line. Both NECA and Tamashii Nations revealed that they will be released some time in the Spring. Now, we have more companies throwing their hat into the circle.

Report from Licensing Industry Marketer's Association

Our first contender was announced on Monday that Rubie's Costume Company has RENEWED the Godzilla license for Godzilla: King Of The Monsters. This was announced during the International Halloween Show 2018, which ran from December 3rd - December 6th in New York City. While some of you may not know this company, you may be familiar with their inflatable Jurassic World T-Rex costume. They made an inflatable Godzilla costume back in 2014 as well. It was not as popular as the inflatable T-Rex costume. The T-Rex costume was just more goofier looking, which made it so popular. The 2014 Godzilla costume looked goofy. It just doesn't compare to the T-Rex.

Our second contender is from Jakks Pacific. In an interview with Toy World UK Senior Marketing Director, Ken Goodison, gave a preview discussion about the 2019 line up and confirmed that Jakks Pacific will be handling figures for Godzilla: King Of The Monsters. Jakks Pacific is no stranger when it comes to making a Godzilla figure. Back in 2014, they released their 2 foot tall Godzilla figure from the 2014 movie and it is still by far the biggest Godzilla figure. It even surpasses Hasbro's Cloverfield monster figure by a foot.

The two foot tall Godzilla figure was one of the first action figures to be released on the market and was the most sought out action figure by collectors at the time. That was until NECA and SH MonsterArts released their action figures for Godzilla. The figure was even the first to reveal Godzilla's new look before the 2014 movie was released. To see Jakks Pacific come back and do another Godzilla toy makes me curious to see how it will turn out. This makes me wonder if they will do action figures for the other three monsters.

What do you guys think of these announcements? Does this have you excited or do you think you will be passing on them? Leave your thoughts in the comment section and make sure to follow me on my Facebook page and Twitter for more Godzilla news, reviews, and discussions.
