Teaser Trailer Reveals Title For Sixth Monsterverse Film

It has finally begun, folks! The march to the next Monsterverse film is underway as Legendary Entertainment has released a teaser for the next movie! As all fans do when something drops, we dissect the hell out of it until all that is left are the bones just so we can find some sort of information on what this movie is about. So far, it is all left inconclusive. Yet, there is one space monster that fans are assuming is being hinted based on the movie's title.

The teaser begins at Monarch call center. Phone calls are pouring in from civilians reporting a Titan sighting. There must be a massive outbreak of Titans as in the background there is a map displaying all of the Titans that look to be active all over the globe.

We see on the TV screen on the right Rio de Janeiro has completed a multi-billion dollar restoration project. In Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Rio de Janeiro was the location where Godzilla and Kong had their climactic battle against Skar King and Shimo. When we look on the TV screen over to the left, however, we see a series of pyramids! These pyramids looks highly advanced like it came from an alien civilization. Yet if you remember from the last movie the Hollow Earth has hid a whole Iwi civilization that also had pyramids, which helped control the Hollow Earth's gravity. What we could be looking at is a news broadcasting revealing the Iwi civilization in the Hollow Earth, which Trapper has warned Bernie against doing. So we might see the consequence of this in the upcoming movie if that is what these pyramids turned out to originate from.

The camera pans to the left where we see a desk. It could belong to Kaitlyn Dever's character knowing that she will be an employee at Monarch, but it could also belong to Jack O'Connell's character since he plays Dever's older the brother. My thought was it may be Sam Neill's desk seeing there is a picture frame of him, but why would he want a picture of himself rather than his family if this was his desk. There is also another picture of an older woman. We don't know who this is, yet. I am assuming this could be Sam Neill's wife or it could be the mother of Dever's and O'Connell's characters or all of the above.

We see a line of binary code that just repeats over and over. After translation, the code just reads, "Godzilla, Kong, Watch this space." When Dan Stevens posted the message on Instagram it was assumed that he meant to watch his Instagram page. Now, this is different. It has gone beyond that Instagram post and is in the teaser. There is more meaning in this message than we realized. Is it supposed to hint that something is coming from space or is this a message to Godzilla and Kong to watch a certain area? Or is the message trying to warn Monarch? Who is sending this message in binary code?

Next to it, is a list of familiar names and one new name: Trapper, Ilene Andrews, Helen Hampton, Rick Stanton, and Jae Jorgenstene. We don't know who this Jae Jorgenstene is yet.

We see a phone call coming from someone in Sedona, Arizona trying to make a Titan sighting report. Suddenly, an emergency alert pops up on the screen, the severity of the alert, and to call the phone number (240) MON-ARCH. The teaser ends with the title GODZILLA X KONG: SUPERNOVA.

The teaser was similar to the teaser for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, except this one didn't unveil the villain, this time. A lot of people are very suspect that the villain for this movie will be a monster that fans will be familiar with and a lot of people are jumping on the SpaceGodzilla bandwagon. This is because of "Supernova" in the subtitle referring to what happens to a star when it dies. It goes into a supernova and then, sometimes, creates a blackhole. Part of SpaceGodzilla's origin is that part Godzilla's DNA was sucked into black hole and was born out of a whitehole.

I have talked about SpaceGodzilla before and granted I sort jumped on that bandwagon back when Shimo was first unveiled during the Call of Duty collab. I have even did a "How I Would Do It" for SpaceGodzilla and it required a lot of changes to the monster just to make it work in the Monsterverse. Honestly, the fan side of me says I would be excited if that happened. The critic side of me is banging his head on the table at the thought of that being a possibility. The whole thing about SpaceGodzilla in the Monsterverse has been a meme. A joke on the internet because it would be an impossibility based on how this series is established and also YouTuber Warstu keeps trying to force it into existence even though he swears it is happening this time. For all we know, we could be getting Gigan, Mecha-King Ghidorah or just a new monster altogether.

As for the phone number this is a real phone number that you can dial to. This is how it works:

  • Once you call, you are sent to an automated voice message. It will ask you to press 1 if you want to stay up to date for more Monsterverse news. Then it will give you more options, 2 to report a Titan sighting or 3 to hear the guidelines. If you press 2, it will tell you that the lines are busy and to leave a voice message. If you press 3, then Dan Stevens as Trapper will give you guidelines on what to do in case of a Titan attack.

  • After you hang up, you will be sent a text message that will link to the Monsterverse community page. Once you sign up, another text will appear saying Monarch operatives are standing by to address your Titan-related concerns and to make sure to save their contact number on your phone.

What I is going to happen, which I think will be very cool, is that Legendary is going to take all of the voice messages and use it in the first trailer or in the movie. Imagine while watching the movie you hear voice messages of people that called in to make a report and your voice is in the movie. That would be amazingly creative! This is an opportunity for you to brag that your voice was in a Godzilla movie.
