Ever since the production for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the previous Premier of Queensland Annastacia Palaszczuk announced a partnership with Legendary Entertainment and their production on the Monsterverse movies. The partnership entailed hiring Australian cast members to help boost the Australian economy.
The trend continues with the sixth Monsterverse film. According to a report by the Australian journal website IF the state government expects 400 cast and crew members to be hired for the production of the film. It also projects the film to contribute $93 million into the economy.
Casting for the film started off with I Am Mother director Grant Sputore helming the director role. The news came after Godzilla vs Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire director Adam Wingard decided to step away and pursue other projects.

Kaitlyn Dever was the first actress to be announced followed with Jack O'Connell, Delroy Lindo, Matthew Modine, and the return of Dan Stevens as Trapper. At the beginning of April, Alycia Debnam-Carey and Jurassic Park actor Sam Neill were then announced.
Based on the information we have, Kaitlyn Dever plays a character from Monarch based on the description of Delroy Lindo's character being Dever's boss inside the organization. Jack O'Connell will be playing the brother of Dever's character.
All other information of characters and the movie's story is kept tightly shut behind closed doors. However, it is believed Dan Stevens and Alycia Debnam-Carey have given us a hint to what to expect. In Dan Steven's Instagram post, he tells his readers to "WATCH. THIS. SPACE" followed with a set of emojis of a T-Rex (Godzilla), a gorilla (Kong), and the planet Earth. As for Alycia on her Instagram, she tells her readers "Let's have some fun" followed with her own set of emojis that includes twinkling stars, a T-Rex, and a shooting star. It is suspect the next movie's next potential threat may be an extraterrestrial rather than a threat from our own planet.
When it comes to the crew members, we have confirmation that Junkie XL will NOT be returning to compose music for the movie. In fact, the composer for the sixth Monsterverse film will be Henry Jackman, who has composed for Kong: Skull Island. Dan Mindel will be director of photography (director of photography for The Cloverfield Paradox, Pacific Rim: Uprising, Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, and Twisters), Stefan Dechant as production designer (production designer for Kong: Skull Island and Pacific Rim: Uprising), Josh Schaeffer as editor (editor for Godzilla vs Kong), and Kelly Port as VFX supervisor (VFX supervisor for The Avengers: Infinity War, The Avengers: EndGame, Spider-Man: No Way Home).
I will say this is not the most exciting set of cast members the Monsterverse is helping the cast and crew in a lot of ways. By filming in Queensland, it generates jobs for Australian citizens and is expected to stimulate Australia's economy.
On top of that, movies like this also helps those that want to get their names recognized. For example, I may only know Kaitlyn Dever from Last Man Standing, but I never recognized her for any of her other works outside of the sitcom. She has just released two shows this year, Netflix's Apple Cider Vinegar (which also starred Alycia Debnam-Carey) and season 2 of The Last of Us for HBO Max. So I am sure her role as Abby in The Last of Us will be the role most people will recognize her from. The same goes for Jack O'Connell and Alycia Debnam-Carey. Nobody really knows who these actors are as of right now, but "Godzilla x Kong 3" will help boost them up after people have seen the movie.
Sam Neill is the biggest name that will drive people to see "Godzilla x Kong 3" because of his role in the Jurassic Park movies. While he has done other works outside of the Jurassic franchise such as Event Horizon and Bicentennial Man, his role as the paleontologist Alan Grant is who people recognized him as the most. So the reveal of his role will be what fans are going to be interested in the most. Will he play a major role or a smaller role? If he plays a major role then is his character a good guy or a bad guy? Is he going to be stereotyped into playing another paleontologist role or is he playing an entirely new role? All of these are questions that are being asked as of this moment, but will eventually answered as we get closer to the movie's reveal.
For the time being, I think this movie is in good hands. I am not expecting anything astronomical from the movie yet. While we have Monsterverse veterans working on the movie, there are a lot of newcomers. Some with a good track record and others with a not so great track record. At the end of the day, all we can hope for is an actual fun movie that we can look back on. I wish everyone working on the movie the best of luck and to the actors to actually give their performances their all.
