Godzilla And Kong Take On Brazil In Fifth Monsterverse Movie Under Working Title “ORIGINS”

It’s a beautiful, hot summer day on the Australian coast. Surf is good and the sun is perfect for tanning. It is a perfect beach day until someone shouts, “Look up all the way in the sky! And run, run!” Suddenly, crowds of people scream at the top of their lungs and running further inland like their life depends on it. It had many locals in the area curious what all the fuss was about and they learn production on the fifth Monsterverse movie has begun.

First reported by 7 News Brisbane, the new Monsterverse movie under the working title “ORIGINS” had everyone curious of all the cameras and people screaming and running. Godzilla and Kong were about to make landfall, but technically not in Australia.

Upon closer inspection, we can see fruit stands, police cars, and Brazil’s flag all suggesting the scene takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Whatever is happening in the scene, it shows that something big (Godzilla, Kong, or perhaps a new monster) has arrived and causing people to run away from the area.

Behemoth in Godzilla: King of the Monsters

Since the scene being shot in the news report takes place in Brazil, it brings me to wonder if Behemoth is going to appear in this movie. Behemoth first appeared in Godzilla: King of the Monsters for a brief time as one of the monsters that woke up from Ghidorah’s call and went on a rampage. It was apparently even planned to appear in Godzilla vs Kong based on a figurine pack that has Behemoth packaged with Godzilla, Kong, Skull Crawler, Warbat, and Hell hawk. Even though the monster’s original role is unknown, Behemoth might have simply made a cameo appearance based on the the movie’s novelization mentioning that Godzilla made an showed a random and erratic behavior swimming off his usual pattern to Brazil despite Behemoth still being asleep.

It was originally believed that “ORIGINS” would be a Kong solo film. Last month, Godzilla was confirmed by Toho Co. on the English Godzilla website announcing his return to the Monsterverse in 2024.

Godzilla vs Kong director Adam Wingard returned to direct the fifth movie and Downton Abbey actor Dan Stevens is the only cast member confirmed, so far, to appear in the movie. The production on “ORIGINS” has been kept under heavy secrecy ever since last year with very little information to go on.

Godzilla also has a television series for Apple TV+ currently in production. Meanwhile, Kong has an anime series coming to Netflix rumored to be released this Fall. The fifth Monsterverse film is set to release March 15, 2024.
