Two nights ago, I revealed the most recent cast members that joined the movie. Production for Godzilla VS Kong started yesterday and more information has been revealed straight from Legendary with the movie's official synopsis.
"In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity's fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans' origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe out the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever."
So while Monarch are discovering the origins of these monsters, someone else behind the scenes wants them gone for good. In the meantime, Godzilla and Kong are set on course to meet and battle each other. But who or what is causing Godzilla and Kong to meet and be forced to battle each other?
Well, we won't know until more info comes our way. If I were to guess, I like to think that maybe it's the acoustic device that Vera Farmiga uses to wake up Rodan and King Ghidorah in Godzilla: King Of The Monsters. How? There a couple ways I can see it played out. It is either (A) the terrorists steals the device or (B) the terrorists built there own acoustic device. The terrorists are still trying to get the monsters to wipe out humanity, but because their plan with King Ghidorah fails they decide to go with a plan B: Use the acoustic device to drive Godzilla and Kong crazy enough to where they fight each and any other monsters that stand in their way. On the other hand, it could be some other device that we aren't aware of yet...or a device that we are aware of and we are over looking it.
Before I continue, I must remind the fans that this is just pure speculation and that all speculations should be taken with a grain of salt. Ready? What if the device is the oxygen destroyer? If you read my reviews in my Godzillathon posts last year, you would know that the oxygen destroyer was the device that killed the original Godzilla in Gojira (54). I know from the "leaks" that there is some sort of weapon that is similar to the oxygen destroyer in Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, but I am still skeptical. However, during early production of Godzilla: King Of The Monsters director Mike Dougherty teased the fans on his twitter page of the image of the oxygen destroyer from the original movie. We don't really know if this device will play a crucial role in the film or not. Yet, in the revealed synopsis it does state that a human conspiracy is threatening to kill off all of the monsters, both good and bad. Remember in Gojira when Dr. Serizawa had to burn all of his research and sacrifice himself so nobody can use him and his research as a weapon? Imagine how horrifying it would be if that was realized in Godzilla VS Kong. It would not just make the sea barren of life, but all forms of life on land and air would die as well. It would be a chemical warfare in a monstrous degree.
Whatever the case it may be, there is something triggering Godzilla and Kong forcing them to fight each other instead of on their own accord. At least that is how the synopsis makes it sound like.
