Yesterday, the SH MonsterArts Godzilla and King Ghidorah 2019 figures went up for pre-order in Japan. The pre-orders for the figures closed almost immediately as soon as they opened. In the meantime, NECA is still waiting on TOHO to give them the go ahead on revealing their Godzilla figures. However, another Godzilla 2019 was "revealed." While not officially revealed, the image above has been making the rounds on Twitter and Reddit. Apparently, this was originally found in various Ebay listings from sellers in Italy.
When it comes to leaks, I have to question if they are authentic or fake. To me, it really looks authentic from the figure down to the box art. Everything looks crisp and clean enough to be real, but I have seen some really good fakes before. I remember when I saw pictures of the box art for a fake S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla 98 figure. It really looked it could have been the real deal and it even had a window inserted in the box to see the "figure," yet it was just a piece of concept art someone did as an idea if such an action figure was made. So if this Jakks Pacific figure is real, we should see an official reveal pretty soon. My best guess is during Toy Fair 2019, which is in February. I do have to say that I really like the design of the figure with the larger dorsal plates. I thought that their previous figure was only okay and that they could have made the dorsal plates bigger. So if this is real, then my wish came true.
