Let's Talk Bullshit: More "Leaks" Coming Our Way And It Isn't Stopping

Boy, isn't this going to be a fun ten months. On Saturday, I made a post about the "leaked" photo of the Rodan design maquette and saying that it could be real. First off, I am still standing with what I said before. I still think that the design could be real, but I am also on the fence and I am just waiting until San Diego Comic Con arrives for confirmation. But because SDCC is just less than a week away, we are going to see some bullshit as well. Even after SDCC, we're going to see fake stuff come out of the wood works and it already started. As soon as I made my post about the Rodan design, more supposed “leaks” appeared. What followed after Rodan’s design leak were concept sketches of King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan and a plot “leak” from someone that claims to have seen an early screening of Godzilla: King Of The Monsters. Just from how they were drawn, these sketches were made very quickly and there is very little detail put into the sketches like you would see from a professional drawing. As for the "leaked" plot, it isn't all that bad. There have been real leaked scripts that were worse than the fakes, but we're still going to need a twelve pack for this.

To kick things off, the details of the plot came from a post on the website, 4chan. Having it come from 4chan of all places is already a big sign that the leak is fake. Most of what comes out from 4chan tend to be fake with a small percentage of leaked information being true. For example, Pokemon has the same issues of fake information being spread around, but on a much larger scale. Whenever a new game is announced, there is always fake concept art, fake articles, fake game play photos, etc. would spread and all of it would come from 4chan. Last year, a new game was announced to be coming to the Nintendo Switch. Not long after the announcement, the trend started up again with tons of fake concept art of starter Pokemon and fake info about the story were being spread around like wild fire. However, among the piles of fakes there was one that stood out and turned out to be true. However, not many batted an eye on this information of a game that would have the same game play as Pokemon GO, but this leaked info turned out to be the upcoming games, Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee, which are remakes of Pokemon Yellow. It was not what people expected and is being frowned upon by those that were expecting a whole new game. It happens once in a blue moon that a leak does come out true on 4chan, but once in a blue moon does not make the website a reliable source. With that, it already tells me to not to take anything from 4chan too seriously.

Before I go into more detail I want to warn of potential spoilers, which I doubt are true. If you don't want to be spoiled, please leave now. You have been warned.

"Leaked" Godzilla: King Of The Monsters story

One of the things that gives the plot leak away are details like the monsters bowing down to Godzilla and Godzilla eating Ghidorah alive. Here is the thing, TOHO gave specific instructions on what Godzilla should and shouldn't do. Unless Legendary talked with TOHO about loosening up the restrictions, there is no way something like eating another monster can be shown. Biting is allowed for sure, but TOHO does not want Godzilla shown devouring anything else other than nuclear radiation. Also, Ghidorah crawling out of Godzilla's mouth? I have no words other than what did this guy smoke before he posted this nonsense?

We have to talk about this part as well. The realistic approach is gone. It no longer exists in this story. I know, we're talking giant monsters. That's unrealistic enough. Part of the idea of this series is to take it in a realistic approach like what if these monsters were real, how would they act in their environment, and how would we handle this if treated as a threat. With more monsters, this should result in countries calling for a temporary truce between warring nations and take these monster's approach as an act of war. It even ends with other monsters approaching! While having other monsters in the movie is fine, but when it mentions that they bow down to Godzilla it sounds too cheesy even for a Godzilla flick like this one. This guy could have gone the whole nine yards and could have ended it with a prelude to a Destroy All Monsters - esque movie, even though that isn't happening. But instead, he just makes the ending of the plot sound like it was ripped off from The Lion King. I bet the next thing you'll find out is that the movie will have the song, The Circle Of Life, Godzilla has a kid, and Kong comes to show off the new prince of the monsters to everyone over a cliff like Rafiki with Simba, except Kong has butter fingers and accidentally drops junior, which makes Godzilla ticked off, Godzilla grabs the nearest tree he can reach, and roars at Kong going straight into the next movie, Godzilla Vs. Kong. You see, even I can make stuff up.

That's the other thing is that there is suppose to be an after-credits scene for this movie as well as a reference to Kong: Skull Island. In the leak, it details that the after-credits scene shows what looks like a newly born Destroyah being sold from a fisherman to the leader of the terrorist group in Godzilla: King Of The Monsters. I really can't see Destroyah making an appearance in the next movie since it is suppose to be Kong and Godzilla facing off. Now, many people are speculating that the fight could end in a tie because it was interrupted by an outside force, but Destroyah is too powerful of an enemy even for Kong to fight. There is also mention of the oxygen destroyer being used as an experimental weapon in the post, but I can't see it used the way it was used described in the leak. Also, this movie needs to wrap up where it Godzilla Vs Kong can begin. Whether it is a stare down between the two monsters or even a hint of Kong heading towards Godzilla's resting location on a radar small scenes like that would be enough to continue into the next movie. So I don't buy the whole Destroyah after-credits scene.

These are just a few things that I'm nitpicking on, but I don't want to go too much into detail. Overall, the "leaked" plot may not be true. Right now, these leakers are in the "My father's, brother's, uncle's, cousin's, nephew's, former roommate works for Nintendo" mode. They will be attacking the hype for attention with fake information. If this is true, then I would be surprised. I wouldn't feel let down. My reaction would probably not hit me right away until after the trailer is over. I will probably still have fun watching the movie, but that all depends on how the movie turns out. In the meantime, keep a look out for official information like Entertainment Weekly or from any other official source because that is where you get the actual info from.
