Godzilla x Kong: Supernova had just started production in Brisbane, Australia and we are already seeing pictures and videos making the rounds. There isn't really anything to go on that screams spoilers, but from what was gathered thanks to Mr. Goji on X there is a new militaristic organization that is going to be playing a role in this movie.

This was first unveiled from a photo of Matthew Modine dressed in uniform. On his left arm, you can see an emblem for this organization. There have been a lot of theories and speculation as to what this could organization be. A good guess I have heard is that this organization focuses on space exploration. The cross part of the logo looks like a rocket blasting off and the wings represent the blast from the rocket's takeoff. However, in other images they do have their own military tanks and vehicles. So it begs the question why a space exploration team would need military vehicles for space exploration.
This brings to another theory that I have based on a lot of comparisons to the G-Force emblem from the Heisei era. G-Force was a branch of the Japanese Self-Defense Force that was funded by the Japanese government to fight Godzilla and other monsters. The G-Team from Godzilla: King of the Monsters was similar. The G-Team was Monarch's privatized military that specialized in fighting Titans such as Godzilla to contain them or to protect the civilians by evacuating the affected city before the monsters makes landfall. The G-Team was only utilized in one movie and they were never seen nor mentioned again in later Monsterverse movies.
My theory is that this is an updated and more organized G-Team. This is a G-Team that is out in the field wherever Titans are being reported by civilians. In the teaser, we actually learn Kaitlyn Dever's character works at a call center at Monarch (this was revealed by her name badge sitting on the desk). I missed this little detail in my breakdown of the teaser, but other people have spotted this after my post went live. So now we know what kind of role Dever plays. They receive calls from civilians around the world and report sightings of Titans and other monsters in their area.
Currently, the movie is being shot in Brisbane for a scene that takes place in London. This is based on the police cars that were towed to the set. In a video, we see Matthew Modine welcoming Jack O'Connell while the whole squad are cheering for him. Why they are cheering for him is the question. Did he kill a Titan that was terrorizing the city? And if he did, how did he kill the monster and what kind of monster was it? Does the scene take place in the second act or could this be the climax of the film? If this is G-Team 2.0, then it would make sense for Monarch to set up a dispatch to take care of the Titan threat.
As much as I would like to see the G-Team return there is a possibility that this could be another military that is completely separate and independent from Monarch. They could be a government funded military tasked to kill these monsters after so many years of them destroying cities around the globe. If this is the case, then the movie's story will harken back to that original debate in the 1954 film. Should the monsters be kept alive to be studied and co-exist with them or should we kill them out of fear for our own lives?
It would create a contrast between O'Connell's and Dever's characters and their roles. O'Connell may have joined this military faction because he saw what these monsters could do and want to protect people to prevent more lives from being taken. Meanwhile, Dever may have joined Monarch for a similar reason, but sees the Titans as a part of nature that we need to get away from as quickly as possible just like a hurricane or tidal wave.
Either way, there is still a lot of speculation about what "SUPERNOVA" means. Most people speculate there is a cosmic aspect to the movie whether that means a space monster villain or something else entirely. Either way, there is an antagonistic force that will bring Monarch and this new organization together and proving once again why Godzilla and Kong are so important to the planet. They are needed to keep nature in balance and without them the human race would have went extinct long ago whether it was by the MUTOs, Skull Crawlers, or even King Ghidorah.
I want to know what you think this new organization could be? Could this be the return of G-Team or could this be a completely different military?
