Real Or Fake: Upcoming Monsterverse Movie Has New Working Title And Synopsis?

The new issue of Production Weekly was released two nights ago and it revealed some tidbit of new information on the new Monsterverse movie that has everyone going topsy-turvy over the legitimacy of the information.

Phone numbers and emails have been censored for safety of the studios and crew members

The first reveal is the new placeholder synopsis, which reads, "The next feature film installment of the Monsterverse franchise following the film's larger-than-life monsters and then prepare for their next battle against each other."

Based on previous info, we know this will be a Kong film as confirmed by Queensland's Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and the Australian news outlets. As we get little bits of info on the new film most media outlets are trying to prop it up as "Part 2" of Godzilla vs Kong. The new synopsis, while very vague, seems to be hinting that a rematch between the two iconic monsters might be happening again.

This synopsis is just a placeholder and will change over time as we get more info. When it says "larger-than-life monsters" it could be iterating Kong and his upcoming battles with monsters in the Hollow Earth rather than another face off with the King of the Monsters. Then again, seeing as this is being marketed as "Godzilla vs Kong 2" or "Untitled Godzilla vs Kong Sequel" it is hard not to think that they're trying to tell us a rematch is on the way.

The next part in this reveal is the new working title "ORIGINS" that is next to the other working title "SON OF KONG." With this new working title, it might make the story a little bit clearer as it could be hinting at an origin story of sorts. Maybe it will explore the origins of Godzilla's and Kong's rivalry since we did not get a really clear idea of how Godzilla's and Kong's ancestors first came to blows. Meaning that if Godzilla were to appear at all to fight Kong or an ancestor in a flash back, then the fight may not be rematch, after all. There is so much about Kong's and Godzilla's history that we do not know.

To add on to it, we would have to find out how "SON OF KONG" comes into play in this story. Based on what I have read and heard from some of you, I find the idea of having Kong raise a baby Godzilla rather than a baby Kong an interesting concept to explore. Godzilla would come to retrieve the baby and Kong refuses to give it up. They trade blows until something bad happens to the baby. Having to put aside their differences once again to fight a new threat and save the baby, they will come to understand that everything that happened in the past must stay in the past.

The other idea could be a straight up Kong solo film where Kong adopts an infant Kong while Monarch reveals more of the Hollow Earth's history and the origins of the monsters. I want to believe the solo Kong movie idea is the most likely direction the movie will be heading. That’s what we were lead to believe ever since the movie’s production was first revealed. For now, the needle on the compass is slightly pointing in the other direction of “Godzilla vs Kong 2.” Until we get more info there is nothing that indicates an actual rematch nor a solo Kong film.

I did see the forum post on Toho Kingdom saying they have contacted and asked Legendary about this info and they replied saying the information is not real. My response to it is this. Yes, Toho Kingdom is close with Legendary and has done interviews with them for past Monsterverse films. Previously, Legendary was more open to talk about any of the movies whether it was Godzilla: King of the Monsters or Godzilla vs Kong. This time, however, is different. Legendary has been very tight lipped about this new movie. We know next to nothing about what this movie is about other than this movie will feature Kong. Whether this is a solo film or a "Godzilla vs Kong Round 3: Hollow Earth Boogaloo" is up in the air. Not even Deadline could describe the movie with their recent exclusive piece either because A) they were told to keep quiet until a certain time or B) Legendary just didn't tell them as a way to not let information get out. If I were a betting man, I would bet my money on option "A" since they are more than likely aware of the movie's details already and are most likely told to keep quiet until a certain date when Legendary are ready to talk about the movie to the public.

Also, the synopsis given by Production Weekly is so vague that it could be about anything. For all we know, it could be about Behemoth rampaging across the Hollow Earth and Kong has to fight Behemoth. That is how vague the synopsis is. For Legendary to deny a synopsis even if it is just a vague placeholder one has made me more suspicious that it could be more legit than not. Since it is just a placeholder synopsis, it means that this will get changed over the course of time.

However, since the synopsis is very vague in the movie's description it could be considered fake on the account that it is just a placeholder. If there is no information to share, then Production Weekly could just put something there for now and replace it with the real synopsis when the info is provided. Meaning that this placeholder really is nothing. On the other hand, if that is the case then it would be better to have no synopsis at all to avoid confusion.

Otherwise, I want to know more about what you guys think of Production Weekly's description on "ORIGINS"/"SON OF KONG." Do you think it's fake or do you think it's legit?
